Christ Church is a community and family-centered parish with a thriving children’s program, and providing opportunities for spiritual growth for children is an important part of our life together at Christ Church. We offer several ways for children to engage and grow in their faith, and invite you to join us each Sunday in worship and formation. For questions regarding our educational programming for children, contact Anna Laymon, Interim Director of Education for Families.
Sunday School at Christ Churchheld during the 10am formation hour, follows the SPARK curriculum, a creative and interactive approach to Christian education that will ignite the imagination and faith of our young learners. Our children meet together in posted rooms in the following groups: Little Lights–PK/K; Bible Blazers–1st-3rd grade; and IGNIS–4th grade and up.  No registration is necessary for Sunday School, and all children are invited to be a part of this opportunity to grow and learn about the Episcopal church and the Christian faith.
The Nursery, staffed by trained, Safe Church certified caregivers,  is available for families every Sunday. During the 9am service, the nursery is open to children ages 5 and under, and during the 10am formation hour and 11am service, the nursery is available for children ages 3 and under.
Children’s Chapel at Christ Church is held for kids in PK-2nd grade during the 11am service. Children’s Chapel introduces children to the basic tenets of the liturgy–prayer, song, and scripture–through a fun and engaging child-centered worship service.

Children’s Worship and Play is held on the second Sunday of the month at 5pm.  The service is geared towards young children (ages 6 and under) with songs, story, and Communion.  The 30 minute service is followed by a simple dinner in the Parish Hall that gives the children time to play and the adults time to get to know and support one another.

OctoberNovember 2013 005Youth: Our youth are integrated into the life of our parish.  Many of our youth serve as acolytes at our  services, and they also enthusiastically support our outreach projects and parish events. The Christ Church Youth Group for kids in 4th grade and up meets once a month.

Vacation Bible School is held each summer for a week in the evenings.  Children explore a theme through story, music, arts and crafts, and games.  This is a great time for children to really get to know one another and the stories of our faith more deeply.

 Rites of Passage

Baptism: Baptisms are held several times a year.  Please contact the Rev. Cara Spaccarelli for more information by emailing her.

Communion Recognition – We offer communion to all people who come to the table, including children.  At the same time, we recognize that children can come to understand the nature of communion differently as they grow.  Each fall For second graders and up, we offer a communion recognition service that follows a communion workshop for parents and children where they learn more about this central sacrament of our faith.

Confirmation: Classes to prepare for confirmation are offered every other year for sixth graders and up with the Rector.  Please contact the Rev. Cara Spaccarelli for more information via email.
