Many volunteers are needed to make Christ Church’s Sunday worship a rewarding experience for all. Anyone can sign up. We will provide training and support. The week before your service, an email is sent to remind you of your ministry.  If you are interested in learning more any of these ministries, talk with the rector, a liturgist, or a member of the vestry.  The sign-up sheets are in the Parish Hallway bulletin board.

Acolytes

Young people may become acolytes around the age of 9 and may serve through high school. Parents of those young members interested in serving may email or talk to the rector. Email Jenifer Gamber for more information.

Flowers

Flowers return beauty to God and gladden our hearts. If you volunteer to provide flowers, please arrange the flowers on Saturday and set them on the altar. Following the last Sunday service, feel free to take the flowers (but not the vases) to someone who would be cheered by these flowers from church.

Coffee & Refreshments

Following the 9:00 am and 11:00 am services, the congregation gathers for fellowship in the Parish Hall for coffee and light refreshments. The sign up sheet is in the Parish Hallway and you may sign up to honor a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion.

Ushers

The ushers welcome parishioners and newcomers, hand out bulletins, direct traffic, take up the offering and present the gifts at the altar.  Please talk to the rector to be included in the next quarterly rota.

Readers (Lectors)

Reading one of the lessons at a Sunday service is a wonderful way to publicly take part in the service.  Anyone (youth or adult) may read. Our lessons are from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the Holy Bible. The liturgists will help you locate the reading for the Sunday for which you have volunteered.  Please talk to the rector to be included in the next quarterly rota.

Prayers of the People

Having the Prayers of the People come from the congregation is a cherished part of Christ Church’s liturgical identity.  Anyone may sign up to lead the prayers.  Please talk to the rector to be included in the next quarterly rota.

Choir and Musicians

Despite their professional sound, they’re all volunteers. Do not let false modesty keep you from seeing the Associate for Music Ministries about joining. The music ministry also needs volunteers to ring hand bells, to sing for seasonal services or to play instruments.  Choir rehearsal is on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.  Contact Richard Thibadeau at music@washingtonparish.org for more information.
