Trivia Night

Trivia Night returns! Join us for pizza, delicious adult beverages (courtesy of the Christ Church Brew Crew), and trivia.  Begin putting together your team (3-5 people) or sign up to be assigned to a group. All are welcome and encouraged to join us. Childcare will be provided. We request a goodwill offering to offset costs. Sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board or email Jennifer Baker Howard at office@washingtonparish.org.

225th Anniversary Celebrations

The 225th Christ Church+Washington Parish Anniversary Kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 24:  Our kick-off Sunday includes a festive coffee hour the 9am and 11am services, a slide show drawn from the church archives and a tree planting ceremony.  The anniversary celebration continues into 2020, including an organ concert at Christ Church on Feb. 23 and a celebration in May at Historic Congressional Cemetery. Concert of “the President’s Own” United States Marine Band

As part of our 225th Anniversary Celebration, Christ Church + Washington Parish is pleased to welcome a brass ensemble from “the President’s Own” United States Marine Band, celebrating the historic relationship between Christ Church “Navy Yard” and the Marine Barracks. The musical selection will include pieces by John Philip Sousa, America’s “March King,” who was a longtime Christ Church parishioner and renowned Marine band-master. This concert is free and open to all. A reception will follow the concert.

Thanksgiving Service and Dinner

Thanksgiving Service and Dinner, Thurs. Nov. 28, 11am – Join us for a Christ Church tradition to host a service of gratitude at 11am on Thanksgiving followed by a wonderful community dinner at noon. We provide the turkeys and the drinks – everyone else brings the sides and desserts.  Please sign up with the number of attendees and what you are bringing.  We typically have about 50 people at the dinner so think large servings.  We especially need volunteers for cleanup…

Make Homeless Lunches

On the first Sunday of each month, usually after the 11am service, we make 100 sandwiches and pack bag lunches for residents of CCNV shelter.  This is a great way for children to serve.  If you are interested in purchasing the monthly supplies, setting up the lunch making, or dropping off the lunches at the shelter, please contact the church office.

Laundry Love

Join us for this outreach event to serve our low-income neighbors as we provide the money and supplies at Good Hope Laundromat on the first Sunday of each month. It’s a vital service and a great way to get to know people in our community.  Please plan to serve 1:30-4:00pm on the first Sunday of the month or designate a portion of that time.  To sign up, contact Jennifer Baker Howard at office@washingtonparish.org

Contemplative Service

Advent is a time to slow down and reflect on the ways God is present.  In a candlelit sanctuary, we will gather with music, poetry, Scripture, prayer, and communion. Tuesdays during Advent: December 3, 10, and 17.  The service will last about 30 minutes.

St. Nicholas Dinner and Christmas Shop

This festive event is a Christ Church holiday tradition with a special appearance by St. Nicholas!   Buy sweets from the sweet shop, bid on baskets, children receive stockings from St. Nick, and we share in a festive dinner.  Refreshments/Christmas Shop opens at 5:30pm, dinner is at 6:30pm.  More information about cost and registration will be updated in November.
