225th Anniversary Celebrations

The 225th Anniversary Celebration continues on January 19th with a guest preacher, a guest speaker at the Adult Forum and a hootenanny with a chili potluck supper. Remembering the 1960’s and 70’s 9am and 11am services will feature The Rev. Carole Crumley as guest preacher. Adult Forum – Guest Speaker Karen Cunningham

Christ Church is pleased to welcome Karen Cunningham, Executive Director of Everyone Home DC (formerly Capitol Hill Group Ministry), to speak about their re-branding efforts and the valuable work they do in our community to address issues of homelessness and pursue long term solutions to this issue. Make Homeless Lunches

On the first Sunday of each month, usually after the 11am service, we make 100 sandwiches and pack bag lunches for residents of CCNV shelter.  This is a great way for children to serve.  If you are interested in purchasing the monthly supplies, setting up the lunch making, or dropping off the lunches at the shelter, please contact the church office.

Laundry Love

Join us for this outreach event to serve our low-income neighbors as we provide the money and supplies at Good Hope Laundromat on the first Sunday of each month. It’s a vital service and a great way to get to know people in our community.  Please plan to serve 1:30-4:00pm on the first Sunday of the month or designate a portion of that time.  To sign up, contact Jennifer Baker Howard at office@washingtonparish.org

First Friday Book Club

The Christ Church Book Group meets most months (except December, March and April) at the church to explore spiritual and/or religious themes in select books.  A light supper is served at 6:30 pm, with book discussion starting at 7:00 pm.  This year’s reading schedule is as follows: October 4, 2019: The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu, with Douglas Abrams. Annual Meeting

The Parish Annual Meeting will be held Sunday, February 9th beginning at 9:50am with roll call and meeting business beginning at 10am.  We will elect new Vestry members, review the 2020 budget, get updates on important church matters and hear about plans for the this year as we prepare to welcome a new rector in 2020.    A copy of the 2019 Annual Report will be available prior to the meeting.

Valentine’s day dinner & movie

Join us for a festive Valentine’s Day supper and movie on February 14. This event is for singles, couples and children. The movie will be announced soon, but will be a family-friendly film for everyone to enjoy.  We’ll have traditional meat lasagne, vegetarian lasagne and gluten free versions, along with salad, dessert and bubbly (including sparkling water and sparkling cider).
