Christ Church + Washington Parish on Capitol Hill offers 3 services on Ash Wednesday including the imposition of ashes at 7:30am, noon, and 7:00pm. Additionally Ashes at the Metro will be offered at the Eastern Market Metro station from 5:15pm – 6:15pm.
Our annual Lenten film series will take place in the Parish Hall on Fridays during Lent (except March 13). The group will select a theme for Lent (tbc) and each event will begin with a light supper at 6:30pm followed by a short reading from the Bible, the movie and a discussion. We’ll have a sign up sheet for each week.
On the first Sunday of each month, usually after the 11am service, we make 100 sandwiches and pack bag lunches for residents of CCNV shelter. This is a great way for children to serve. If you are interested in purchasing the monthly supplies, setting up the lunch making, or dropping off the lunches at the shelter, please contact the church office.
Join us for this outreach event to serve our low-income neighbors as we provide the money and supplies at Good Hope Laundromat on the first Sunday of each month. It’s a vital service and a great way to get to know people in our community. Please plan to serve 1:30-4:00pm on the first Sunday of the month or designate a portion of that time. Come celebrate with a fun, traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner (catered by Corned Beef King) with libations provided by the Christ Church Brew Crew. We will have some EXCLUSIVE items for bid as well as a lottery drawing for a Pot of Gold. Adults are $30; children under 12 are $10.
